Filings with the Detroit Brownfield Redevelopment Board lay out a timeline that starts with tower demolition in 2027 and reaches full completion of the $2.24 billion riverfront project in 2038.
According to reporting by Max White for WXYZ Detroit, documents filed with the Detroit Brownfield Redevelopment Board show the $2.24 billion overhaul of the Renaissance Center and riverfront won't be finished until 2038. Demolition of two towers and the five-story podium runs from 2027 to 2031, so the skyline will shift years before anything new rises. Tower 100 is set to become roughly 384 apartments, Tower 200 gets modernized office space, and a new RiverEast housing district fills out the plan. Strait has not independently confirmed this. The City of Detroit's own project page lists 934 mixed-income residential units across the redevelopment, with community benefit meetings running into fall 2026.
