Detroit's newest pro team has a look. On October 8, PWHL Detroit unveiled the jerseys it will wear for its inaugural 2026-27 season, the first real glimpse of the city's new professional women's hockey club before it ever drops a puck.

The black home jersey features silver metallic accents, reflecting the city's automotive, innovative, and industrial spirit.

White, silver, and red stripes are a callback to Detroit's 313 area code, with the red a nod to Hockeytown's stewardship of the game in the United States for more than 100 years.

If you're wondering about the team's name, you're not alone.

PWHL Detroit player Hilary Knight spoke to what the sweater is supposed to carry. "There's a standard that comes with representing this city, and I love that," Knight said. "We have the opportunity to build something from the ground up, create an identity people can rally behind, and make this jersey mean something."

Ally Financial is the exclusive jersey patch partner of PWHL Detroit. The jerseys are produced by Bauer, the official jersey partner of the PWHL.

Fans can get their own. PWHL Detroit's black home jerseys, including personalized player options, will be available to purchase in the week leading up to PWHL Opening Weekend on December 5 and 6. Jersey-inspired player name-and-number t-shirts are on sale now through the PWHL's official online shop.

The first chance to see the sweaters on home ice comes soon after. PWHL Detroit plays its inaugural home opener at Little Caesars Arena on December 12 against New York, with a noon ET puck drop.

"Detroit is building its own connection with the community, and these jerseys give fans another way to show their pride," said Amy Scheer, PWHL Executive Vice President of Business Operations.

For a city that calls itself Hockeytown, a women's pro team with its own black-and-silver identity is something new. The colors are here.
