New reporting from Hour Detroit, by Ryan Patrick Hooper, marks 100 years since the world's largest Masonic temple opened its doors in Detroit. Hooper reports the Masonic drew about 248,000 people in 2025 for concerts, weddings, corporate events, and high school proms, and ties its long run to a turnaround that started when Jack White paid off the building's back taxes 13 years ago. Strait has not independently confirmed this. The temple is slated to celebrate the centennial with a gala on Oct. 17, Hour Detroit reports.
Why we're watching: the Masonic is one of Detroit's great rooms, and we'll be there to cover the Oct. 17 gala and what the next century looks like on that stage.
