A layered arts community has taken root at the former Marygrove College campus in northwest Detroit, anchored by a weekly gathering that draws artists from age six to seniors.

The former Marygrove College campus now holds working studios and a roster of resident artists, including fresco painter Hubert Massey. Its anchor is the Detroit Fine Arts Breakfast Club, a Monday evening gathering that draws attendees from children as young as six to seniors, founded in 2009 and now based on the campus with Kresge support. Strait has not independently confirmed this. "It's kind of like church," club co-founder Harold Braggs told kresge.org. "The most important part is the fellowship, the camaraderie, because everybody knows everybody."
