According to Detroit Artists Market, watercolor painter and muralist Miranda Kyle is the gallery's latest featured artist, with a show titled 'Flowers Know What We Forgot.' The org says Kyle centers people of color in work that turns on memory, identity, and storytelling, and that she builds pieces by ripping paintings apart and collaging the fragments back together. Kyle earned her BFA in illustration from the College for Creative Studies in 2021 and received a Kresge Artist Fellowship in 2023, per the profile. 'We are who we are, because of where we've been,' Kyle told Detroit Artists Market. Strait has not independently confirmed this.
Why we're watching: Detroit Artists Market lists the show at 4719 Woodward Avenue, free, Tuesday to Saturday, and Strait plans to see Kyle's work in person on a gallery visit.
