Detroit's gospel season has a homecoming date. On Saturday, October 24, the Heat and Warmth Fund and DTE Energy bring the 15th annual Hallelujah for Heat concert to Fellowship Chapel in Detroit, and every seat in the house is free.
The show has become one of the city's most beloved annual gospel traditions, and this year marks its 15th anniversary. Doors open at 5:00 PM and the concert runs from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

Admission is free, but the organizers strongly encourage advance registration. Seating is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis, so a reserved spot is the safest way in.
The music does real work off the stage. THAW raises money to help keep Michigan families warm through the winter, and the concert doubles as a night of awareness for that mission just as the cold season sets in. For a lot of Detroit households, heating help is the difference between a warm apartment and a dark, cold one, which is exactly why a free gospel concert in late October carries more weight than the ticket price suggests.
