Detroit's techno festival marks 20 years under Paxahau over Memorial Day weekend, with Carl Cox, Dom Dolla, and Sara Landry on top of a 115-plus lineup spread across six stages at Hart Plaza.
Movement returns to Hart Plaza over Memorial Day weekend, May 23 through 25, 2026, and this year carries a milestone. Paxahau, the Detroit company that has produced the festival since 2006, is marking 20 years at the helm.
The top of the bill is the broadest it has been in a while. Carl Cox, Dom Dolla, and Sara Landry headline a roster the organizers put at more than 115 artists, per the festival's own announcement. The three names span house, big-room dance, and hard techno, which reads as a deliberate stretch for the anniversary edition.
Detroit is heavily represented across the weekend. Confirmed local bookings include Carl Craig, Kevin Saunderson, DJ Minx, DJ Godfather, Waajeed, Eddie Fowlkes, DJ Bone, and Terrence Dixon performing live. Saunderson revives his E-Dancer alias alongside his son Dantiez, one of several back-to-back pairings the festival is leaning on this year. Others on the anniversary slate include Carl Craig with Cajmere, The Martinez Brothers with Eddie Fowlkes, and Juan Atkins reuniting with Moritz von Oswald as Borderland.
The site runs on six stages, per the festival guide: the Movement Stage, the Waterfront Stage, the Stargate Stage, the Underground Stage, the Pyramid Stage, and the Detroit Stage. The Movement Stage carries most of the headline sets. The Underground Stage, the covered room beneath the main level of Hart Plaza, keeps its warehouse-party billing. The Detroit Stage runs an all-local lineup of veterans and newer names, a direct nod to the city that built the sound.
Gates open at 2 p.m. each day. Saturday and Sunday run to midnight, Monday to 11 p.m.
On tickets, the festival is selling three-day and single-day passes in general admission and VIP tiers through its official site. VIP adds dedicated entry, lounge areas, viewing platforms at select stages, premium bars, and air-conditioned restrooms. A payment plan splits the cost across installments. Prices move by wave, so the earlier tiers cost less.
The basics hold from year to year: Memorial Day weekend, Hart Plaza on the downtown riverfront, three days, six stages. What sets 2026 apart is the anniversary and the spread at the top of the lineup.
