Three Detroit rooms hold the bulk of the official afterparty schedule for Movement weekend, the late-night counterpart to the festival at Hart Plaza.
Movement returns to Hart Plaza over Memorial Day weekend, May 23 to 25, and most of the weekend's official afterparty calendar runs through three rooms across the city. TV Lounge on Grand River, Marble Bar in New Center, and Spot Lite on the eastside carry the bulk of the late-night schedule that the festival's promoter, Paxahau, lists alongside the main stages.
TV Lounge sits at 2548 Grand River Avenue, on the edge of Cass Corridor. The club bills itself as the longest running nightclub in Detroit and programs house, techno, Afrobeats and hip hop most weekends, with a patio it calls the best in the city. On Movement weekend it draws the international touring crowd. The official Friday opener there, billed as More Than You Can Bear, lists a deep local and visiting roster including Norm Talley, Rick Wade, Recloose and Theresa Hill.
Marble Bar runs out of 1501 Holden Street in New Center, with an indoor floor and an outdoor patio built around its soundsystem. It carries official afterparties across the weekend, including a Friday Endzeit bill and a Monday daytime-into-night session billed as Toasted that runs roughly $49 a ticket, per the Marble Bar listing and Bridge Detroit's guide. Derrick Carter and Horse Meat Disco are among the names attached to the Monday room.
Spot Lite is at 2905 Beaufait Street in the Islandview neighborhood on the eastside. Owner Roula David has hosted Movement-affiliated parties there since 2021, and the venue holds several of the weekend's official Paxahau events this year, including the Friday opening and the Memorial Day closing party. Covers across its Movement programming run roughly $44 to $54, per the festival listings.
The three rooms differ in geometry and crowd. TV Lounge takes the largest international bookings, Marble Bar leans on its patio and soundsystem, and Spot Lite skews toward Detroit house and the local roster. Doors at most of the official afterparties open in the late evening, with sets running into the early morning.
These are not the only rooms working the weekend. Smaller spaces, rotating warehouse parties and daytime sessions fill in the rest. But the published official calendar concentrates in these three anchors.
