Yungblud opened his 2026 world tour with a sold-out night at Freedom Hill

Yungblud opened his 2026 North American headline run in Sterling Heights, playing a sold-out Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre at Freedom Hill on Friday, May 1. The Detroit-area stop was the first date of the IDOLS world tour, a 24-date run that the venue operator 313 Presents announced last fall.

The amphitheatre seats roughly 7,200 across its covered pavilion and lawn, and the May 1 show filled it. The Detroit News ran its photo coverage under the line that the crowd was sold out, and the booking marked the official launch of the tour rather than a one-off festival slot.

Yungblud is Dominic Harrison, the Doncaster, England singer who has built a steady touring base since the late 2010s. The Sterling Heights date carried material from his most recent album, IDOLS, released in 2025, along with a cover or two. Per the public setlist logged for the night, the main set ran a dozen songs, including "Hello Heaven, Hello," "The Funeral," "Lovesick Lullaby," a Black Sabbath cover of "Changes," and a closing run through "Zombie."

Los Angeles band Return to Dust opened, the support slot listed on the tour announcement and the venue's own event page. That kind of booking puts a younger rock act in front of a full room every night, trading exposure for the headliner's audience.

Freedom Hill sits in the Macomb County corridor and gives the region a third major outdoor stage alongside Pine Knob in Clarkston and Meadow Brook in Rochester during the May to October season. Michigan Lottery has held the naming rights since the venue's last rebranding, and a renovation a few years back expanded the lawn and covered seating to the current count.

Opening a national tour in metro Detroit is the part worth marking. The first dates of a run are where a touring act sets the show it will carry across the country, and Yungblud set his here before moving on to stops that include Radio City Music Hall and the Greek Theatre.
