Detroit's free techno festival Tec-Troit is set for June 26 to 28, 2026, back in June after a one-year run in August.
Tec-Troit, the free techno and house festival that has run in Detroit since 2011, is set for June 26 to 28, 2026 at 1151 Taylor Street, according to the festival's own listing. The 2026 dates put it back in June after the 2025 edition ran in August.
The shift is a return rather than a departure. Tec-Troit was held June 7 to 9 in 2024, moved to August 15 to 17 in 2025, and now comes back to a June window for its 2026 run. The festival's own Facebook post confirmed the August dates for last year's edition.
Tec-Troit bills itself as the only free electronic music festival in Detroit, an all-ages event built around Detroit-based artists, with workshops and lectures alongside the DJ sets and live performances. The festival site frames its mission as educating the community about techno as a Detroit-created style.
The 2026 bill leans on Detroit names. Resident Advisor reported that A Guy Called Gerald and Mike Banks, DJ 3000, Detroit Techno Militia, John Collins and Stacey Hotwaxx Hale are among the bookings, with live sets from Blake Baxter, DJ Godfather and Mr. De', and back-to-back pairings including Juan Atkins and Milan, and DJ Roach and Frankie Bones.
The June date lands Tec-Troit a month after Movement, the larger Memorial Day weekend festival that draws international crowds to Detroit. For a free, Detroit-first event, the proximity is as much an opportunity as a crowding risk: visitors already in town for the techno calendar have a second reason to stay close.
