Vernal 2026 is Buffalo Prescott's spring exhibition, a contemporary group show built around a botanical theme. Decorative rabbits, plant-form installations, and an oversized worm-shaped couch are the anchor pieces. Hour Detroit covered the opening this week.

Buffalo Prescott is the gallery and design space at the corner that sits at the intersection of fine art and home goods, and the spring show splits the difference. The worm couch is functional. The rabbits are not. Both are for sale.

The botanical framing is deliberate. Spring exhibitions at design-adjacent galleries lean garden-and-flower; Vernal goes a register more sculptural and a register stranger. The worm is upholstered. Multiple rabbits. Plants doing what plants are supposed to do, more or less.

The artists in the group show were not all named in the announcement. Buffalo Prescott has built its programming around a rotating roster of regional and national artists working at the intersection of furniture, ceramics, and sculpture. The model is closer to the way an architecture firm shows fabricated objects than to a traditional commercial gallery.

The room itself is the third element. Buffalo Prescott's exhibition space is finished as a domestic interior, which means the work in Vernal reads as a room rather than a show. The rabbits are sitting on a credenza. The worm is positioned as a couch.

That is the move. The show is calibrated for a person who is going to walk in and either buy something or not, and the framing is supposed to make the buying feel like it makes sense. The rabbits do that work. The worm does it harder.
