The Detroit Free Press (via Yahoo) reports that Move Detroit is giving $15,000 grants to retain residents and grow the population.

The city says Mayor Mary Sheffield and Move Detroit awarded the first Make Detroit Home grants, $15,000 each to 13 Detroiters.

Why we're watching: it's a direct cash bet on the Detroiters already doing the work of staying.
