The Detroit Institute of Arts throws one fundraiser a year where the guest list dresses to rival the collection, and this summer it drew the biggest crowd in the party's history.

The night is hosted by the DIA's Founders Junior Council.

The centerpiece was the Neiman Marcus Art of Fashion runway show, staged inside the museum before the dance floor opened. Looks moved through Ralph Lauren, Helmut Lang, Stella McCartney, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Tom Ford, and Silvia Tcherassi, among other houses.

Guests turned the room into a second runway. "I put on this dress and fell in love with it. It looks like I rolled over a wet oil painting," Holly Campbell, a co-chair of the event, told Hour Detroit.

Kimberly Hoyle catalogued her outfit down to the shoes. "The suit is Helmut Lang. The pants are sheer. The shoes are Victoria Beckham. It's so me," she told Hour Detroit.

Others wore pieces they made themselves. "I have a brand called Harry Rich Clothier. This is one of my originals; I made it myself," Harry Rich told Hour Detroit.

A record crowd of more than 650 is a good night for one of the DIA's marquee fundraisers, and for the Founders Junior Council behind it.
