Detroit City FC is bringing free World Cup watch parties to Campus Martius and Mexicantown this June

Detroit City FC is hosting six free World Cup watch parties across the city in June, sending USA group stage matches downtown and Mexico matches into Mexicantown. Every event is free and open to all ages, with food and drinks available for purchase.

"Although Detroit isn't a host city, with us having a large football fanbase, we wanted to bring the energy here by hosting watch parties," said Abi Varghese, the club's director of partnership development.

The USA parties land at Campus Martius Park, at 800 Woodward Ave., on June 12 at 7:30 p.m. and June 19 at 1:30 p.m. Both are held in partnership with the Downtown Detroit Partnership, which programs the park. Capacity is limited at Campus Martius, so fans need to claim a free ticket in advance through the club's website. A third USA party moves to the Detroit City Fieldhouse, at 3401 E. Lafayette St., on June 25.

Mexico's matches head to the lot outside Los Galanes, at 3362 Bagley St., in Mexicantown. Those parties run on June 11 at 2 p.m., June 18 at 8 p.m., and June 24 at 8 p.m., with DJs scheduled across the dates. Bagley Street has long been the heart of Detroit's Mexican and Mexican-American community, and the Los Galanes lot puts the viewing parties in the middle of it.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the first time three nations have shared the tournament. Detroit was not selected as a host city for the games themselves, so the local soccer community built its own June calendar instead, spreading it across neighborhoods rather than packing it into one venue.

That footprint fits Detroit City FC. The club spent years building a fan culture rooted in accessibility and neighborhood presence before reaching the USL Championship, and routing USA matches through a downtown park while sending Mexico matches to Mexicantown reflects that approach.

Beyond the organized events, matches will also be viewable at City Clubhouse and the Detroit City Fieldhouse for fans who want to catch other games. The organized watch parties begin about an hour before kickoff, and registration links for the Campus Martius dates are posted on the club's website.
