Detroit City FC is bringing free World Cup watch parties to Campus Martius and Mexicantown this June

Detroit City FC is hosting six free World Cup watch parties across Detroit in June, spreading USA and Mexico group stage matches to two of the city's most recognizable neighborhoods.

The events divide between Campus Martius Park downtown and Los Galanes restaurant in Mexicantown. All are free and open to all ages, with food and drinks available for purchase on-site.

USA watch parties at Campus Martius run June 12 at 7:30 p.m. and June 19 at 1:30 p.m., both in partnership with the Downtown Detroit Partnership. The June 19 event covers the USA's group stage match against Australia. Campus Martius at 800 Woodward Ave. is one of the most active public squares in the country, and both events there have limited capacity — fans must claim a spot in advance through Detroit City FC's website.

A third USA watch party moves to the Detroit City Fieldhouse at 3401 E. Lafayette on June 25. Doors open at 3 p.m. before a 10 p.m. kickoff. No advance registration is required for that location.

Mexico matches head to Mexicantown. Watch parties run outside Los Galanes on Bagley Street on June 11 at 2 p.m., June 18 at 8 p.m., and June 24 at 8 p.m. Organizers encourage early arrival; no reservation is needed. Los Galanes, at 3362 Bagley, has been part of the Mexicantown dining scene for years, anchoring a stretch of Bagley Street that has long been the heart of Detroit's Mexican and Mexican-American community.

The watch parties arrive as the 2026 FIFA World Cup unfolds across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, the first time the tournament has been co-hosted by three nations. Detroit wasn't designated as a host city for the games themselves, but the local soccer community has built a substantive June calendar that spreads across neighborhoods rather than concentrating in one venue.

Detroit City FC built its identity on exactly this kind of footprint. The club spent years establishing itself before climbing to USL Championship status, and the fan culture it developed centers on accessibility and neighborhood presence. Hosting USA matches downtown with the city's main parks organization while routing Mexico matches through Mexicantown reflects that orientation.

The City Clubhouse bar inside the Detroit City Fieldhouse is showing every match of the tournament this summer, making the fieldhouse a reliable destination for any game beyond the organized events.
